Recession and Savage Statement

So I've called many places around town trying to find a prn (as needed) job in OT. Nobody is hiring! Usually hospitals, nursing homes and other agencies jump at the chance of having prn therapists in case the full-timers get sick. I've even called hospitals that are over forty minutes away and still nothing! I'm looking into a few volunteer options hopefully the recession hasn't hit the volunteer business!

I thought health care would be the last aspect of the economy to be hit since it's a necessary service. It's just shocking to me!

Tom is really excited about the new job. He is going to be busy but I think it will be rewarding for him.

I can't believe Michael Savage had the nerve to say what he said about autism. Does he have any training in the medical field or has he done any research on autism? How can he make such outrageous comments with NO research to back it up?

I have worked with many autistic children and I bet the parents wish their children were just "brats." Autism is a tough diagnosis to deal with, it affects the whole family! These children go through a lot of observation and tests in order to be identified as autistic (if they have a good doctor). Autism should only be diagnosed by a Neuropsychologist. Of course kids can be misdiagnosed but so can people with mental illness but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist or affect people.
I feel it is irresponsible for Savage to say such horrible things about children. Go after the doctors but not the kids. Autistic people can pick up on emotions and they completely understand when they are being described in a negative manner. They have feelings too!!!!!

I am glad we live in America and we do have freedom of speech. Savage has the right to say whatever he wants to get ratings even if the statement is highly uneducated and just plain mean. Way to go Savage you picked on children! What a man.

Love ya

I am so out of touch sometimes. I rarely watch news or listen to the radio. Actually, other than kids tv, I don't watch tv. I had to look up Michael Savage to see who he is and what he said. Honestly, I rather like being out of touch..it is more pleasant :)
